David Stephen Smith, 62, passed away on July 11, 2026. Born November 8, 1964, he is now reunited with his mom, dad, his life partner Cathy, and his childhood friend “Dickers.”

Dave got spent much of his childhood on TV and movie sets through his father’s work and later made his home in the greater Los Angeles area. He loved airplanes, loud Van Halen, and watching Caddyshack and Roadhouse on repeat. He also cherished playing guitar and shooting with his grandsons.

He is survived by his life long friend Kenny Clark, his ex-wife and dear friend Sharlene, Cathy’s 3 children Leah, Thomas, and Beth; and their ten children who knew him as Grandpa or Papa Dave.

Dave will be remembered for his straightforward nature, his loyalty and his ability to throw them back like no one else.
