Obituary

Gary Alex Christian, 81, passed away peacefully at home on May 29, 2026, with his beloved wife Bonnie by his side.

Born on February 17, 1945, in Fresno, California, Gary was the son of Alex and Anne Christian. He is survived by his wife Bonnie, his two daughters, Sue Garza, Lindsey Furlong (Husband Aaron Furlong), his granddaughter Ayla Garza, and his sister Beverly Wulf. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory and carry forward the lessons, guidance, laughter, and love he shared throughout his life.

Gary dedicated his early career to serving his community as a firefighter for North Central and the City of Fresno Fire Departments. In his later years, he worked as a raisin farmer, finding fulfillment in the simple pleasures of country life.

An avid outdoorsman, and known to be a daredevil, Gary found joy in fishing, riding motorcycles, lots of competitive sports, and was a longtime recreational firearms enthusiast. He treasured time spent in nature and was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. A respected friend to many, he lived each day with gratitude and a spirit of adventure.

Gary, being a devoted, caring husband, father, and friend, was widely admired for his boundless curiosity and encyclopedic knowledge. The inherent caring and humorous nature made him memorable and lovable to so many during his lifetime.

As a father, he always had a listening ear and thoughtful advice to offer. As a friend, he was dependable and ready to lend a hand whenever needed. As a husband, he was loving, supportive, and deeply devoted.

Gary will be remembered for his hard work, his silly humor, his intelligence, and endless love for people and life.

A memorial service celebrating Gary’s life will be held on Friday June 5 at 1:00 p.m. at Goshen Church of God, 6416 Avenue 308, Visalia, California 93291 (in Goshen).

A luncheon will follow, where family and friends are welcome to gather and share memories.
