Muriel Quenzer, born January 20, 1941, passed from this life on June 25, 2026. Muriel was born in Reedley to Willie and Florenda Heinrichs and lived her childhood years between Reedley and Fresno.

Muriel met Ken Quenzer on a blind date at a miniature golf course and Muriel, and “Kenny” were married in 1959.

Muriel and Ken made Mennonite Community their church home and, except for a three-year stint while Kenneth attended seminary in Elkhart, Indiana, they have been members of the MCC Christian community ever since. The church was a major source of support for Muriel, especially in her last years.

In 1961 a son, Galen, was born and in 1965, a daughter, Laurie was born to Muriel and Ken.

Muriel dedicated her life to working with kids. She was an instructional aid for children with disabilities at Ginsburg Elementary School and a braille transcriber for visually impaired children at Wolters Elementary.

Muriel was a partner with Ken in his work at the Pinedale Boys Club in the 60’s by regularly volunteering many evening hours at the Club. She advocated for girls to attend the Boys Club and is credited with the Fresno County organization changing its policy to include girls and changing the name to Boys & Girls Clubs of Fresno County.

Family was so important to Muriel. Being home with her kids was a priority and she was responsible for many vacation adventures. Sailing became a family pastime early on and many days and weekends were spent on Millerton and Huntington Lakes. As the family grew, the boats got bigger and trips became more exotic.

Muriel left a family that is so thankful to have been the beneficiaries of her love and support, including husband of 67 years, Kenneth Quenzer, daughter Laurie Hiebert (Matt), son Galen Quenzer (LeAnne), grandchildren Keila Gaeddert (Sam), Stephen Quenzer (Hanna), Ren Hiebert, and Kara Hiebert. Finally, great-grandsons Jackson and Wesley Gaeddert. Muriel is also survived by her brothers Ken Heinrichs and Rodney Heinrichs and many nieces and nephews.

Muriel has joined her parents Willie and Florenda Heinrichs, and sister Ellen Goertzen in heaven.
