Forever in Our Hearts

Virginia Lee Rowland, 85, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026 in Fresno, CA. She was born on February 12, 1941 in Web City, Missouri to Daniel and Helen Newby. She touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Virginia, known as Jenny by her family and friends, worked as a home health care worker before her retirement. Her hobbies included crocheting, cross stitching and gardening. Many family members have her beautiful crocheted Christmas ornaments on their trees every year. Also, each new grandchild received several crocheted blankets and booties made lovingly by their Grandma Jenny. She loved the mountains and the ocean.

She adored animals, particularly her Yorkies Chase and Dani. Her brother gave her Chase and her sister gave her Dani, which made these wonderful dogs even more precious to her.

She is survived by her children Brenda Dedekian and her husband, Martin, Robert Hopper and his wife, Lorrie, Gary Hopper and his wife, Emma, Matthew Hopper and his wife, Kim and her sister Charlotte Joan Hankins and her husband, Larry. Also surviving her are 11 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and many cousins she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Wayne Newby and her mother Helen Virginia Stout.
